Primary Bathroom Remodel with Upgraded Primary Suite

The Primary bedroom & bathroom had a dysfunctional layout that did not work for them. Through layout changes to walls and doors, we were able to tailor the new design to their needs. The existing layout was a true mess of doors all swinging into each other. We were able to improve the layout of the bathroom entry and add a built-in bedroom closet system which makes this primary suite a functional standalone space.

The real eyecatcher of this bathroom was the vanity, rustic hickory with a soapstone countertop, subway tile backsplash, and custom-made barn door vanity mirrors made to match the master bedroom’s flooring. This whole project had amazing flooring throughout and this bathroom was no exception, with heated grey and black hexagon tiles.

Outside the bathroom, we did work in the bedroom making his and her closets separated by a built-in wardrobe cabinet. We painted the bedroom and installed the most spectacular hardwood floors which carried outside the bedroom into the hallway where we also added a fresh coat of paint and some tile work.

One obstacle to this remodel was creating a flow in a space that had no flow. We actually ended up with a “smaller” footprint for the primary bathroom but fixing all the other problems makes the space feel larger rather than smaller. coming up with a creative solution for this made all the difference but took several rounds of design conversations.

This project was done in conjunction with their lower-level North Fork In-Law Bathroom Renovation Project and two other smaller bathroom remodels (not pictured). Because this home had been a bed and breakfast, each room has its own bathroom, so when you are working in one bathroom, that means you were also working in that bedroom. We did phase the work for the clients comfort, but it still presented challenges to work this closely to their daily use spaces.

Finally, the addition of another bathroom to the scope mid-project was a bit of a curveball but we were happy to accommodate it. This made a lot of sense to basically just copy and paste the work we did in one kids bathroom to the other. Because of the layout for the existing schedule, we were able to incorporate this bathroom into the project and only add about 2 weeks to the timeline.
