Whole Home Renovations

FAQs

A whole home renovation involves transforming multiple areas of a house, either throughout the interior, exterior, or both. When the project spans several rooms or areas, it requires a lot of planning, coordination, and attention to detail.

This will vary drastically depending on scope but multiple room remodels typically take between 8-20 Weeks.

Whether you need a building permit for your project depends on how in depth the work will be. If you are doing a pull-put style remodel where you are replacing finishes in their same location, a building permit is not required. When your renovation includes moving or altering Load bearing framing, Plumbing, Electrical, or HVAC fixture locations, your project will require a building permit. Remember, if you are hiring a licensed general contractor, it is their responsibility to pull the building permit, NOT YOU!

Depending on the size of the home, what resources you may have, and which rooms we are working in, it may make the most sense for you to move out during a whole home renovation. This is not always the case but it can be a more comfortable option. In other cases, we can sometimes phase the project so certain areas of the home are usable while we are working in others and then we swap places for phase two of construction.

Popular whole home renovations include:
• Interior renovations
• Multigenerational homes
• Exterior renovations

As part of our design phase, we focus on detailed product selections. This involves researching your preferences, obtaining quotes for various options, and meeting with you to review these selections. Through this process, we carefully vet each product to ensure it comes from a reputable source and is backed by a reliable warranty. When clients purchase their own products, we cannot offer warranties on those items because they have not gone through our selections process. We recommend allowing us to handle the procurement of all materials for the project because it not only streamlines the process but also saves you potential headaches during and after the renovation.
