FAQs

Most deck projects are installed with some type of composite lumber for the surface. The composite lumber manufacturers are all very comparable but we have found that Timbertech is our favorite and we recommend them if a client doesn’t have their mind set another way.

The outdoor building material world has come a long way. Lots of products have extended warranties which are great but they hinge on the product being installed in the right way. Our outdoor building experts will have tips and tricks they can recommend for your project that will increase the life of your space beyond just purchasing a material that’s labeled with a 30 year warranty.

Whether you need a building permit for your project depends on how in depth the work will be. If you are doing a pull-put style remodel where you are replacing finishes in their same location, a building permit is not required. When your renovation includes moving or altering Load bearing framing, Plumbing, Electrical, or HVAC fixture locations, your project will require a building permit. Remember, if you are hiring a licensed general contractor, it is their responsibility to pull the building permit, NOT YOU!

Removing a deck, its framing, and pouring new footers with a new frame WILL require a building permit.

Simple deck improvements may take 2-3 weeks while deck replacements often take 5-6 weeks. Extensive screened porched and pavilions may take as longs as 3-4 months to build.

Popular outdoor living projects include:
